Get ready for bare legs with these DIY natural scrub recipes good enough to eat

We have been asked a lot lately about exfoliating scrubs, and for good reason! With long pants being the uniform of choice during winter the pins have not been getting a lot of attention or air-time.

When the sun finally decided to make an appearance and entice us crack out the shorts with some warm rays it wasn’t a pretty sight. Being pale is understandable but the dry scaly skin was something that could’ve been avoided.

There is no need to beat ourselves up over it. It happens and it can be fixed. So it’s time to spring into action (no pun intended) and get down with some DIY natural scrub recipes to get you ship shape in no time flat.

DIY Edible Body Scrub by Woohoo Skincare

diy natural body scrubCoffee scrubs are all the rage right now but not everyone has a barista living with them.

This great body scrub will slough away those winter dry skin scales and kick off that summer glow!

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (or whatever you have handy)
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

If you don’t mind a little mess you can also add 1 tablespoon of Pig In Mud Mineral Mask if you have some handy and turn into an at home mud wrap

Apply your edible body scrub before your shower then hop in and rinse off. The coconut oil smells fantastic and will leave you moisturised all over. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

DIY Edible Face Scrub by Woohoo Skincare

diy natural face scrubSalt and sugar are too abrasive for the face so here is a gentler version. Even this could be too much depending on your skin.

We have tested this scrub on our sensitive toddler and he loved it (and no reactions at all), but if you are super-duper sensitive we can’t go past Konjac Sponges for daily use. They cleanse, exfoliate and are gentle enough to use every day.

  • 1 tablespoon almond meal
  • 1 tablespoon natural yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or whatever you have handy)
  • 1/2 tablespoon honey

We dare you not to eat it! Phoebe couldn’t stop licking her lips.

You can even leave this one on as an AHA moisturising mask. Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 5 days or up until the expiry date of your yoghurt, whichever is sooner. Time to get scrubbing.
